I love living in Northern California where there are endless opportunities to be outside enjoying nature. We are surrounded by lakes, waterfalls and beautiful hiking trails while still being able to drive to the ocean or larger cities within just a few hours. My husband and I are enjoying raising our three wild boys in the same community we were born and raised.
I first became interested in pursuing a career in public safety dispatch, while still in high school. During my senior year at Enterprise High I completed my senior project on SHASCOM. I was able to sit-along in the dispatch center and ride-along in the field with the Redding Police Department and the Shasta County Sheriff Office. I was intrigued by the intense nature of the job and the opportunity to make a difference by helping others on a daily basis.
Our work environment is fast paced, where anything goes and everything can change in an instant. You truly never know what type of call for help you will receive when answering each phone call. During my years as a 9-1-1 public safety dispatcher, I have taken thousands of calls for help which is as challenging as it is rewarding. It is gratifying to know I am able to serve the citizens and public safety personnel in Shasta County.
It’s hard to believe that 20 years have passed so quickly. During these years at SHASCOM, I have made life-long friends, married my best friend, and am raising our 3 children who are active and involved in the community (they keep us busy!).
Our management at SHASCOM is very supportive, which allows me to balance my families’ needs with my career expectations. Every day I am thankful for my job and the opportunity it provides me to help others.
