I began my dispatch career in my mid-30s, after spending several years raising my children and working in the healthcare field for a non-profit organization. My husband, a Sheriff’s Deputy, told me about an opening in dispatch and encouraged me to “check it out”. With some hesitation, I called to request a tour, hoping to learn more about the job and observe the dispatchers in action. What was meant to be a two-hour visit turned into a six-hour sit-along and by the time I walked out the door, I was absolutely hooked. I had discovered a career I never knew I wanted, but one I knew I couldn’t imagine my life without.
The years since have been some of the most rewarding of my life. Every day, I have the privilege of serving the citizens of our county alongside an incredible team of hardworking and dedicated professionals. When major incidents occur, it’s truly impressive to witness the precision, focus, and teamwork that fill the room. It’s like being part of a perfectly timed symphony; each dispatcher knows their part, steps in where needed, and together, make incredible things happen.
Dispatching isn’t just a job; it’s a calling. It’s a career where you can make a real difference, every single day, using your voice, your calm under pressure, and your heart for helping others.
